7Fabs File Upload / Customer-Supplied File Terms
1. Purpose
These terms govern any file the Customer uploads to 7Fabs through the website, the customer portal, email attachment, or messaging channel that feeds the 7Fabs File Intake Platform (FIP) — including CAD files (STEP, STL, IGES, DXF, native CAD formats), images, sketches, scans, and reference documents ("Customer Files").
2. Customer representations
By uploading a Customer File, the Customer represents that: (a) the Customer owns the Customer File or has the legal right to share it with 7Fabs for the purpose of obtaining a quote and having it fabricated; (b) the Customer File does not infringe any third party's intellectual property, trade secret, or other rights; (c) the requested part is legal to design, fabricate, and possess under applicable federal, Florida, and local law; and (d) the Customer File does not contain malicious code.
3. How Customer Files are handled
Customer Files are ingested through the 7Fabs File Intake Platform. Frappe (the operations system) stores metadata and routing state; file bytes are stored in Google Drive. Customer Files are not made public by default, are not shared outside of 7Fabs staff and the specific project team without authorization, and are not moved, deleted, or auto-approved by automation without human review or policy-gated approval per 7Fabs's internal guardrails.
4. Use of Customer Files
7Fabs uses Customer Files solely to prepare quotes, perform CAD/design work, and fabricate the requested parts, unless the Customer separately grants broader rights (for example, portfolio use under the Photo/Portfolio Permission Release). 7Fabs does not sell or repurpose Customer File designs for unrelated commercial production without written permission — see the IP & Customer Design Ownership template.
5. Confidentiality
Customer Files are treated as confidential business information of the Customer. If a higher level of confidentiality is required (e.g., a pre-quote design review of a sensitive concept), the Customer may request a signed Generic 7Fabs Mutual NDA before sharing files.
6. File format, quality, and readiness disclaimer
7Fabs is not responsible for defects in the finished part that result from defects, ambiguity, or non-manufacturability in the Customer File as originally supplied (for example, non-manifold geometry, missing tolerances, or unclear dimensions), except to the extent 7Fabs identifies and independently corrects such issues as part of a separately quoted design-cleanup scope.
7. Revisions
Revised Customer Files uploaded after quote approval are treated as a potential change order under the Quote Terms & Conditions. Prior file versions are retained for traceability unless the Customer requests deletion, subject to 7Fabs's evidentiary/retention obligations.
8. Retention and deletion
Customer Files are retained for the duration of the project and for a reasonable period afterward for reorders, warranty, and dispute-defense purposes. Details pending professional review. No destructive/irreversible file operations occur without human approval.
9. Malware and safety
7Fabs may scan uploaded files for malware and may reject or quarantine any file that fails a safety check.
Interim review copy — not effective. This page is informational and cannot authorize a quote, payment, file, publication, or customer send.
